Redeemed

3/2/2022 - 4/24/2022

Jesus is our Redeemer. To redeem is to buy or to buy back at a cost. In the work of Christ, it means deliverance by purchase or even by ransom. We are redeemed because Jesus Christ paid a price to set us free. Who did Jesus pay? At first, we think Jesus paid the Father, but Jesus and the Father are one. In truth, God paid God. God extended salvation by paying the necessary price to set us free from our self-destructive disobedience. When we try to solve this problem ourselves, we only make it worse. We cannot pay. We cannot redeem ourselves. We can only be redeemed, receive the gift, and be saved by Jesus our Redeemer. There are many different ways Jesus paid this price, but it was ultimately paid on the cross.
