Jesus’ disciples asked him to teach them to pray. We want to know how to pray. Prayer is open communication with God. It is like crawling up onto the lap of a loving father. Sometimes we want prayer to work like a talisman or a secret incantation. Open Sesame. If we say the words right it will release the lock and the universe will shower blessings on us. God intends to shower blessings on us, but only as we are in relationship with Him as God. The Lord’s Prayer is often recited as more of an incantation than a prayer. Let’s make it live again. Let’s pray it alive again. Let’s not have our minds running other places while we regurgitate memorized phrases, but instead join in and pray the Lord’s Prayer.
