California Wildfires Disaster Relief

It has been a time of devastation and tragedy in Southern California. Wildfires that have decimated entire communities, and our brothers and sisters in the area covet our prayers and support.

The Southern California Presbytery and Mission Presbytery are composed of ECO churches in the Los Angeles region where the fires continue to cause unprecedented losses. In an effort to respond in a way that reflects the nature of our ECO covenant community, a fund has been established by these Presbyteries to best support those in need.

Local Engagement

God is at Work in Colorado Springs

Our deep desire as a church is to discover where God is already moving and join in His work! Just as we see Christ meeting tangible needs as well as spiritual needs, we partner with organizations both locally and globally who share this vision of holistic gospel ministry. We volunteer with and financially support non-profits in Colorado Springs who care for and empower the most vulnerable members of our community.

Crossfire Ministries

First Pres collects non-perishable food donations the first Sunday of every month for our partner, Crossfire ministries! Crossfire provides a free of charge grocery shop for those in our community experiencing food insecurity.

About Crossfire Ministries

Global Engagement

God is Building His Church Around the World

We’re called to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, and we think the best way to carry out that commission is by building deep, long-term partnerships with particular Christian communities around the world—strengthening and supporting them, listening to and learning from them—believing that no one is better equipped to transform a culture through the love of Christ than its own thriving local church.

  • Cuba: We partner with First Presbyterian Church of Havana and visit regularly to encourage the believers there in their ministry.
  • Egypt: Our most longstanding Global Partnership with Heliopolis Evangelical Church in Cairo.
  • Guatemala: Our newest and most travel-accessible partnership. We partner with multiple ministries working to alleviate poverty and hopelessness and strengthen communities.
  • Mongolia: We partner with Campus Crusade for Christ Mongolia in an extraordinary opportunity to resource the first- and second-generation church in Mongolia, where the gospel only came about 30 years ago.

Honoring Karen Boden’s Service at First Pres

With gratitude and appreciation, we want to share that Karen Boden, our Local Missions Director, is stepping away from her role to return to California to support her aging parents. Karen’s dedication, self-starting spirit, and deep commitment to our mission made a lasting impact beyond her service on staff. She embraced challenges with grace, built meaningful connections with our local mission partners, and poured herself into the work of advancing God’s Kingdom through First Pres.

Though we are saddened to see her go, we trust that God is leading her into this next season with purpose. Please join us in praying for Karen as she transitions, for our Missions Pastor Ellen Dawson as she steps into additional responsibilities, and for our Mission Engagement Team as they continue to support and empower our local mission partners.

Karen, thank you for your faithful service—your heart for missions and your willingness to go above and beyond will be missed!

Living Sent

The Church isn't a building—it's people. We're sent into the world to bring the love of Christ to be Light and Life for the City. And we can't do it alone. We partner with other organizations holistically helping people both locally and globally.
