Garrett Prather serves as the Human Resources Director at First Presbyterian Church, where he provides strategic leadership across all areas of HR, including employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and organizational development. With more than 15 years of combined leadership and human resources experience, Garrett brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach to building healthy systems and a strong staff culture aligned with First Pres’s mission and values. In his role, Garrett partners closely with senior leadership and ministry teams to support workforce planning, staff development, and policy implementation, ensuring both legal compliance and a people-first approach. His skill set includes talent management, total rewards strategy, organizational design, risk mitigation, and staff engagement. Prior to joining First Pres, Garrett served as Director of Human Resources for Chick-fil-A and spent eight years as a Naval officer, serving at Naval Air Station Pensacola and Naval Air Station North Island. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Garrett has been a member of First Pres since 2020. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, mountain biking, and reading.
