Life Together

The Rule of Love - Tim McConnell

Aug. 27

The chief ethic of the Christian life together is the ethic of love. This can be misunderstood; love is not always comfortable. But every action must be measured according to the question, “Is this love?” Jesus taught this as love for God (vertical) and love for neighbor (horizontal). Selfish acts of personal gratification are darkness, a violation of love. We are constantly tempted to use one another to gratify ourselves in a hundred ways. Love puts God and neighbor first.
