Freedom
Freedom – No Human Invention
- Tim McConnell
Aug. 28
Truth is not a human invention. Some argue that all truth claims are power plays, that to say something is true is actually to oppress someone else. In the Christian worldview, truth is something you bump into. “Truth reveals reality, and reality can be described as what we humans run into when we are wrong, a collision in which we always lose.” (Dallas Willard, Allure of Gentleness). Freedom is actually aligning ourselves with God’s ways, not demanding freedom from all bounds (like a fish on the beach). Paul reminds us that the truth that matters is not human invention but God’s revelation.
