Redeemed
Redeemed From Injustice
- Tim McConnell
Apr. 3
The whole world is twisted up and distorted, waiting and groaning in agony and discomfort until things get put right again. There is something wrong in the world and it must be put right. Someone must pay the price. A young lady in Argentina in 1999 was reflecting on the “Dirty War” of 1976-83 during which thousands of political prisoners were thrown out of airplanes over the Atlantic (the disaparecidos). One was her mother. The New York Times quoted her saying, “The last time I saw my mother was when I was 7, and I will never see her again. Someone must pay for my pain.” Someone must pay for injustice. The cycle of revenge never satisfies. Jesus paid the price when He suffered the “agony of death” (Acts 2:24) and suffered injustice so that we could have the promise of a coming justice in His Kingdom. When I try to fix what is wrong, I often make it worse. I need to let Jesus pay the price and be my Redeemer. He will make it all right in the end.
